Prayerful Song of Tagore | Jodi E Amaro Hridaya Duaro

Jodi e amaro hridayo duaro
bondho roye go kobhu,

dwaro bhenge Tumi
esho moro praney
firiya jeyona Prabhu

If the doors of my Heart
is ever found shut

May You O Lord,
break all doors, and
Enter my soul's sanctuary,
please never go away

Jodi kono dino e binaro tare
Tobo priyo Namo nahi jhongkare
doya kore tobu, rohiyo daraye
firiya jeyona Prabhu

If these strings of my Heart
ever cease to sing Your beloved Name
still then with Your infinite grace
please wait for me, never o never
may You go away

Jodi kono dino Tomaro ahobhaney
shupti amaro chetona na mane
bojro bedone jagayo amare
Firiya jeyona Prabhu

If I ever remain unconscious,
heedless to Your call
may Your thundering call
awaken my core of being
please never go away O Lord

Jodi kono dino Tomaro ashone
aaro kahare boshai jatone

Chiro diboshero hey Raja amaro
Firiya jeyona kobhu

If I ever invite anyone
to the Seat reserved for You

O my King of the Momentous Day
Forgiving me ever,
please never go away

About Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore (7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941) was a Bengali polymath who was at the same time a poet, author, painter, novelist, musician, composter and mystic. His songs are exquisite in their devotional quality and the depth of realization from where they sprang from. Tagore's family was member o fa subgrouping of Brahmins known as Pirali Brahmin and the group took its title from a Brahmin Hindu who later converted to Islam and his name was Mohammad Tahir Pir Ali. Tagore's family finally embraced the Brahmo sect of Hinduism which were Monotheistic, followed Upanishad, while rejected the authority of Vedas and had a very universal outlook.

Gitanjali is Tagore's best-known collection internationally, which essentially is a collection of Songs Offered to the Divine, and earned him his Nobel.
