Life and Death merging together | in the Life of Buddha and Muhammad

I'm not sure whether you have noticed this or not:

The day Buddha was born, was the same day he was enlightened and the same day he died. This day is celebrated as Vesak Day.

And interestingly the day Prophet Muhammad was born and died is on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal according to Islamic Lunar Calendar. And this was the date of his first visit to the city of Medina (Yathrib), where he emigrated to establish an enlightened society for the faithfuls out of an age of darkness.

In the history of mankind - two great teachers of mankind, two great healer and message bearer to humanity both came and departed in the same fashion - that is their birth and death being individually on the same date.

Many people by misunderstanding Buddha's context and message think of him as an atheist, which is so untrue and injustice to his message. He never preached there is no God. Rather, his context was unique and unlike any other great teachers. To appreciate his message to humanity here is a beautiful article by Wahiduddin : The Buddhist Path - and the One Light.

Coming up : According to the islamic calendar 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal (this year falling on saturday, 31st March, 2007) is the date in lunar month when the whole of the Muslims community across the globe will be celebrating the birth of the Last Messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad and remember his life and message.

Our Lord! Behold we have heard a voice calling us unto faith: 'Believe in your Lord' and we have believed. (The Quran 3:192)
