for the love of God, saying:
'We feed you for the sake of God alone;
we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.'
- The Holy Quran, 76:8-9
What is very beautiful about this verse is that the pure intention has been made clear here. It describes the characteristics of righteous behavior that one should help not to recieve thanks nor rewards, but to help for the sake of God alone.
This attitude is very important. Otherwise we may find ourselves caught in the attachment of selfish and self-centered help that seeks reward in terms of publicity, outward thanking and showiness.:: Read the Holy Quran's English translation here.
